Colonel Rothrock was inspired to write this book with great courage and iron will of the people of Israel in their struggle to survive against overwhelming odds. He also touched on how people feel that Israel has experienced threats to their lives every day of the invasion and terrorist attack. The inspiration for the title comes from a former Israeli Defense Minister, Moshe Dayan, who once said that his generation is condemned to live by the sword in the future.
