Pike County Agricultural Society’s efforts to raise funds to build a new warehouse goats and sheep in the Fairgrounds District has received a boost recently with a donation of $ 5,000 from Farm Services Credit Mid-America. The audit was presented by the Farm Credit Financial Services Official Tony Brammer from Lucasville to the office of the Registrar at the annual carnival Ag Society at the beginning of this fall
.
Agricultural Credit
really stepped up to be a good partner with us and see what we have achieved our goal, said PCAS members and Pike County, Extension Educator Jeff Fisher. We appreciate their support, both on this project and in the past, where they have been there for us in our livestock sales and other fundraising activities
.
PCAS
has invested nearly $ 1 million in ten years to build a new livestock barn, meeting rooms, multi-purpose building, extension offices and operational facilities in Pike County Fairgrounds. Stock for sheep and goats is the final phase of construction
.
addition to serving as sheep and goats for the annual fair 4-H structure, the location of the exhibition at the Southern Ohio Crossroads will also function as a place for a wide range of events from a ten county area. Planned activities include training for quality assurance, the Ohio Valley Animal Extravaganza, Portsmouth Rabbit Breeders regional and state shows, in addition to providing the necessary location for social events such as meetings and receptions. The structure is also expected to generate additional income during the winter, a deposit for camping and commercial food stands. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2012, and will be completed in time for the fair this summer the first week of August
.
Is hoping to get a lot of miles out of this structure, said Fisher. Ben can have many different types of training of young people from which you can have children here 8-10 districts at a time.
Fisher learned about managing credit Farm initiatives in local communities through its role as a member of the Advisory Committee with the Farm Credit office Lucasville. Brammer approached in October about the possibility of obtaining grants FCS, and two of them working together on the application, which was approved some time after

Brammer
indicates that the gift was that part of the ag lending cooperative to be a good neighbor is active in the communities they serve. Through the management program, the Farm Credit gives high priority to support youth activities such as 4-H and FFA, and offering programs such as guaranteed loans for young farmers and early.
That’s a big part of what is here, says Brammer. It is not only loans but also to give the money back through our service programs. Many of us in the Farm Credit was good in 4-H or FFA, or have children in them, and recognize the value of this program. He was happy, we have an organization in this county, which took the initiative to increase opportunities for our youth. After all, where the youth is the future.
